Counterpoint runs an internship programme that seeks to provide successful candidates with the invaluable experience of working in an exciting and challenging think tank environment at the heart of a large organisation. Interns will have the opportunity to engage in a wide variety of Counterpoint and British Council activities and work closely with the Counterpoint team.
Counterpoint’s internship programme is integral and essential to our running. We depend on our interns to contribute in a meaningful way to our projects through quality research, analysis, and ideas generation. As such our interns get the opportunity to attend external meetings, conduct interviews and make a real contribution to what we produce.
Counterpoint interns come from all over – from London to overseas, during their gap year or after their PhD, in between a career direction change or directly from university and we benefit enormously from the diversity of their background and their knowledge. In general we have 3 interns at any one time, working alongside our small team (and our greater British Council network). Interns work alongside us in our open plan offices at Trafalgar square. Internships will usually last for three to four months. Most internships are full-time (Monday-Friday, 10am-6pm) but hours can be flexible.

All candidates should be interested in political culture, current affairs as well as domestic and international politics.

Internships are unpaid and voluntary, however we can help by paying travel expenses of up to a maximum of £75 per week, and provide free lunch in our staff restaurant.
